I have 50 years’ experience as a non-profit CEO, including 23 as CEO of one of the largest Boys & Girls Club organizations in the country. In this role, our organization grew from one service location to 23, staff grew from 25 to 265, and the annual operating budget grew from $600,000 to $16,000,000. I facilitated three mergers and oversaw the construction or renovation of 12 campuses. In addition, we implemented a planned giving program which resulted in 45 gifts received with a combined value of $10,167,000, plus over 100 additional donors having pledged to make planned gifts.
During my career, I have served as a coach and consultant for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. My experiences include coaching emerging leaders, serving as a consultant for several mergers, and providing workshops for board development and fundraising.
I have a California Community College Teaching Credential and a certificate in executive coaching from the University of San Diego. I was a founder of the North County Philanthropy Council and am currently a member. I serve on the board of the Notre Dame Club of San Diego and as a member of the Rotary Club of Escondido.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking and traveling with my wife. We value the quality time we spend with friends and family, especially our grandchildren.
Having worked in clubs large and small, urban, suburban and rural, I understand that no single cookie-cutter approach works for all. Your organizational values are important to me and any plan of action will be based on your strengths and designed to amplify the good work you are already doing.
